4. Mixed Media Ethernet Switch

In this mode, the module acts as a mixed-media

Ethernet switch with two 10/100/1000Base-T copper

interfaces and two ber-optic SFP-based 100Base-FX

or 1000Base-X interfaces. (See Figure 5.)

The mixed-media switch allows the user to add or

drop Fast/Gigabit Ethernet trac to or from a ber-

based linear or ring Fast/Gigabit Ethernet network.
